Montana Wedding ~ Choteau Ranch

Scott and Rachel (Cole) Harter pronounced their vows atop of a hay wagon in the middle of a barley field, about 30 minutes outside the small town of Choteau, about an hour outside of Great Falls Montana. And this wasn’t just any field, it was the Cole family farm where Rachel spent her childhood working along side her incredibly kind and welcoming family.
Nothing is more personal then having your “first look” on the front porch of your grandparents home, and saying “I do” to the man of your dreams in the midst of all your childhood memories.   This wedding truly was sentimental and special in every way possible. Not to mention, the backdrop included sprawling Montana farmland up against the towering peaks of the Rockies.
A huge thank you to Alex from Chrystabel Photography for the photos and blog post. I have known the Cole ladies for 10 years and they are beautiful inside and out. Congratulations on your wedding Rachel and Scott! Thank you for letting us post your wedding!

Delish Dessert Idea: French Macaroons

Normally, cake is an essential at every wedding, but many couples are moving away from the traditional.  For the past years, cupcakes and dessert bars have overwhelmed the dessert tables.  Nevertheless, times are changing and the new hot item–french macarons.  Yes, macarons!  It is a surprising trend; however, they look beautiful, they come in so many colors, and they taste amazing.  We even tried making them on our own and yes, of course they turned out, but definitely not as beautiful as these displays.
Photos from 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Great favors for your guests, beautiful and edible, what more could you want in a gift?!?

Send a special message to your guests with your macarons.

Change it up and make lollipops.  If you found cool vintage vases, you could make the macarons your centerpieces.

c9 wedding: Steph & John at Silverado Resort, Napa

If there was one wedding that we could do over and over again, it would be this one! The Napa weather was absolutely perfect for Stephanie and John who wanted a destination wedding at the Silervado Resort & Spa that brought their favorite things together: family, friends and wine.
Starting with her colors of aubergine which is an eggplant and champagne, we worked together to design a custom invitation (which has been featured nationally – yea!) to set the tone for the wedding.  The bride wore an Amsale Blue Collection gown which was drop dead gorgeous. The ceremony was held outside on the golf course. Stephanie arrived in style in a vintage 1947 Packard and walked down the aisle to ‘In My Life’ accompanied by a soloist and quartet. After the ceremony, an a cappella group led the guests to the cocktail hour.
The reception was in the charmingly beautiful Grove which was filled with aubergine covered tables and varying orchid and hydrangea centerpieces. Guests were treated to amazing food and wine, and a dance-till-you-drop 80’s band that rocked all night long (forgive the 80’s reference).
Our vendor team: The Silverado Resort & Spa, Brittany Hanson with BLR Photography (thank you for the AMAZING photos), Fleurs de France, Golden Gate Music- quartet), Sugar Rush – band, Chair Covers & Linens, Perfect endings- cake and Classic Convertible Wine Tours.

1920′s Inspired Vignette at Anna Be FIVE

We loved designing a silver inspired 1920’s vignette for the Anna Be FIVE party. Thanks to Jess Holder of Jess Elysse Photography – she captured the essence of our Hollywood Glam look perfectly. Our amazing floral team – A Design Resource went all out with items like a gorgeous hand tied bouquet with heirloom jewelry at the base with a subtle fragrance of gardenias. Our other two lavish floral pieces incorporated ostrich feathers, crystals, orchids, tulips and other fabulous flowers for that soft, feminine touch set against the hard lines of the mirror-top table and side tables.
LMD Productions painstakingly hung an extravagantly amazing chandelier that stole the show. With the use of their ivory chaise lounges and ottomans along with fab drapery – this room glowed! Linens Unlimited provided the absolutely stunning silver sequined table linen and, sequined and floral chair covers and napkins.

Inspiration 101: Thanksgiving

The holiday season is upon us once again.  The best time of year for friends, family and a whole lot of good food.  Our minds are fully loaded with ideas of how to make a special Thanksgiving inspired wedding.  When we think of the word Thanksgiving, the first thing that comes to mind is turkey, fall colors, and our Grandma’s homemade pie, of course.  Your dessert table could be full of mini pumpkin, apple, and pecan pies with table fully loaded with cranberries trees and orange and green florals.  Pumpkin soup, turkey and mashed potatoes for dinner.  Now we are getting all those juices flowing for a gorgeous wedding.

Guest Book Idea: Personalized Prints on Etsy

10 years ago there were not any fun guest book ideas like this! I wish that instead of my fill-in-your-name-on-the-blank book that I had one of these colorful and fun prints from Personalized Prints for our guest book. The colors can all be customized along with names, dates and even monograms. My girlfriend did the fingerprint tree were guests filled out the tree by putting the fingerprints on the poster and then signed. What a memorable keepsake! Incorporating Books Into Your Big Day

Whether you are looking to spice up your centerpieces or looking for an interesting cake stand, books could be just the addition the day needs.  Think of all the books from your mother or grandmothers childhood, Caddie Woodlawn, The Great Gatsby, To Kill a Mockingbird, Romeo and Juliet.  All the books were gorgeous, hardback, and now probably have an amazing tethered affect.  Those books could be the ticket for unique centerpieces and can be a cheaper extra element toward amazement.  Think of all your books at your own home or think used books stores, easy yet fabulous!

cloud 9 wedding: Stefanie & Jon at Arrowhead Golf Course

I was so excited when Stefanie and Jon told us about their Indonesian wedding plans- the vibrant colors, authentic items that she and her mom brought back from their last trip to Indonesia, music and custom made gown by a renowned Indonesian designer. The guests’ first glimpse into what they could expect at the wedding came in the form of a custom letterpress invitation that resembled an airmailed letter.

The ceremony and reception took place at Arrowhead Golf Course. The bride looked absolutely stunning in her gown with the gold beading across the bodice. The bridesmaids’ bouquets incorporated Indonesian fans with fuchsia orchids. The ceremony chairs were sprinkled with fans to keep the guests cool. For the cocktail hour, the Gamelan Tunas Mekar musicians played the gamelan which are bronze-keyed instruments and tuned gongs that are struck with various wooden and padded mallets in interlocking flurries of sound that are also supplemented by double-headed drums and bamboo flutes. The guests were completely enthralled!
Once the guests were invited in for dinner, they were treated to Indonesian dancers that were mesmerizing. Authentic pashminas were on every other dining chair along with pashmina lanterns that were around the perimeter of the tent. It was truly an amazing evening and we were so honored to be a part of it! Oh Martha! Outside of the Box Centerpieces

Weddings are your time to be creative and think outside of the box.  Centerpieces do not always have to consist of flowers in vase to make the event beautiful and romantic.  Sometimes those creative ideas are the most unique and can be a do-it-yourself project.  We love the DIY projects, because it allows for all of your creativity to flow and come up with the most magnificent, gorgeous ideas.  We often need some inspiration and Martha Stewart always has a plethora of those outside of the box ideas and items you can even take from your own home.  Fruits, vegetables, wine bottles, candles, tea cans and the list goes on!

Using fruit and veggies that are in season can add that pop of color.  With fall in the midst, think of all the luscious tomatoes, pumpkins, and even artichokes.  It is easy to use any vegetable or fruit with the right pot or vase to carry out your theme and colors.
We love the idea of using the squash and artichokes.  Extremely unique vegetables that are surprisingly elegant and festive.

The stars and matching candles add for a whimsical feel and give the room just the right amount of sparkle!

Martha’s idea here of using paper bags was extremely unexpected, but looks unbelievably good on the tables with using the greens, blues, and whites in woodsy tones.

Think you could plant all your flowers ahead of time.

It’s All in the Details: Wedding Coasters!

As you know, we love details! As our fab ladies from Spark Letterpress blogged – Coasters can be used as a part of the whole table set up at the reception. Not only can they accent the centerpieces, but can send messages to your guests. Here are some ideas of how to use coasters as one of the “day-of” pieces:

1. Quotes. Poems, lines from songs or movies, etc. Don’t forget classics like Dr. Seuss, Pride and Prejudice, or a vow (awww……)
2. Passage. Favorite religious reading or part of a book can be very meaningful
3. Thanks. If there wasn’t room in the program, here is a great place to thank everyone for sharing the special day with the couple
4. Signature drink. Create a drink for the special occasion which people can then take home to try to recreate. Also during the reception people can read what they are drinking!
5. Menu. Save some money and put a simplified menu on the coaster!
6. Photo. Here is another way to showcase beautiful engagement pictures or a favorite picture from time together. Letterpress photos are a piece of art!
7. Monogram. Reuse the monogram created for the invites
8. Contest/game. Have a simple “names and date” on the top and on the bottom create a game for your guests to play!
9. Fun facts. Have two different coasters- fun facts about each partner, your guests can get to know you even better!

We’re Crazy About: Fabric Bouquets

Flowers, flowers and more flowers!  We just love flowers, they really make a wedding beautiful and brighten up your ceremony and reception areas.  When you are looking for that unique look for your wedding, real flowers don’t always have to be used to add that bit of pizazz.  Don’t get us wrong, we love real flowers and gorgeous bouquets, but fabric bouquets can really add a new and different element to your bridal bouquet.  The colors really pop in all of the bouquets and the added elements of brooches and feathers, really add a punch of fun to any bouquet.  There are many great Etsy shops with these fascinating bouquets and here are a few of our favorites.

Stiletto Heel Covers

A few weeks ago, we coordinated a wedding at Arrowhead Golf Course and many of the bridesmaids were worried about their stilettos sinking into the grass.  As most girls are aware, stilettos are hard to walk in on grass, as you seem to aerate the lawn every step you take.  So the bridesmaids were looking for a way to prevent this on their walk down the gorgeous, grassy aisle.  Well, there is a great option to prevent this, stiletto heel covers.  Sole Mates makes stiletto and kitten heel covers.  The covers help to keep your heels from sinking into the grass and causing you to fall over.  Sole mates has a variety of styles to match your shoes and keep them hidden.

Ceiling Treatments Add to a Great Party

There is so much you can do to beautify a venue and a great way to make it really interesting is the addition of ceiling treatments.  They maybe a pain to put up, but they can take any room from drab to fab.  Ceiling decorations might just be the final touch for a fun, party like feel or even that elegant feel.  You can use anything from pennant flags to tulle to tiny glowing lights to lanterns.  It can be such a lovely personal touch and can be used inside or outside.

Dessert Bars – Scrumptious and Delicious

Everyone looks forward to weddings, not only because of the beautiful ceremony or the bride walking down the aisle or the dancing, but the cake!  Cake is always so delicious and a wonderful tradition for any wedding.  However, we have discovered a new love for dessert bars.  Dessert bars can add variety with homemade goods, candy, cupcakes, and any other sugary goodness, you can think of.  Amy Atlas started it all with her gorgeous dessert bars and now we are seeing the trend everywhere. If you are looking for a new way to make your wedding original, pick out your favorite treats, colors, or even have your family and friends bake their favorite goodies for a unique, scrumptious dessert table.

Centerpieces with Simplicity

Floral arrangements are often the standard for weddings; however, sometimes the right touch of simplicity can take a table from boring to elegant.  We love the idea of buying vintage vases and adding just a few understated flowers to complete your table centerpieces.  Vintage vases are not always easy to come by, but think what does your grandma or mother own that can add that vintage family, personal touch.  These pictures from Ruffled may give you some brilliant ideas to make your own.

We’re Crazy About: Rustic Table Numbers

After looking at a variety of rustic wedding sites this past week, I started searching to find the perfect pieces to complete that wedding.  After some searching and many great ideas, BraggingBags Shop on Etsy had the perfect element to spice up your centerpieces.  Table numbers can be tricky to make them creative and original, but BraggingBags Shop has just the right details: chalkboards, rustic picture frames, and wooden hearts.  All of them just add a little touch of rustic that every table needs. Add some flowers and candles, and you have yourself an amazing looking and easy to find table for your guests.
