Rum Cakes By Kelli

We had the great pleasure of tasting the most delicious rum cakes today. Rum Cakes by Kelli delivered a variety of cakes – from a 9″ masterpiece to mini shooters coming two per box.

We were instantly in love and wanted more.

Kelli’s website describes them best, “This isn’t your grandmother’s rum cake. Imagine…exceedingly moist, yellow cake with sugary, buttery sauce so delicious that some customers actually lick the cardboard plate it sits upon. The rum doesn’t overwhelm the cake but offers just a hint of rum fun. (Even people who don’t like rum love this cake!) Pecans (or almonds) line the top of the cake, balancing the flavor and offering a satisfying crunch!”

There is an amazing story behind Kelli’s Rum Cakes. Kelli and her best friend Joan started baking together in 1983. After friends and neighbors tasted the rum cakes, they demanded more and Kelli and Joan, together, produced the scrumptious cakes for 23 more years. In 2007, Joan passed away after a battle with breast cancer. The two friends had always talked about one day selling their cakes so Kelli now sells the cakes in honor and gratitude of her friendship with Joan.

The cakes come in either in traditional or chocolate and are absolutely divine.

We think the 9″ beauty would be perfect on a dessert buffet or the shooters could be a favor at each place setting or even put inside a guests’ welcome bag at the hotel.
