Cloud 9 Wedding: Allison & Eric’s Estes Relocation Wedding to Castle Cliff Estates
Allison and Eric met while cheering for their college team at a local watering hole in Denver. Three years later, Eric surprised Allison by proposing to her at The Brown Palace Hotel. We started to work with the couple on their wedding plans that were to take place in Estes Park on October 5th – with the ceremony at the picturesque St. Malo Church and the reception at the Taharaa Mountain Lodge. Everything was moving along beautifully and then the floods hit on September 12th.
Trying to get ahold of either venue was impossible as well as the accommodation location for the guests. When we finally did get through, we were told that all three were fine, sustained minimal damage and were ready to go for the wedding. We then we found out on Monday, Sept 23rd that the reception site and guest lodging locations were in the no flush zone, meaning to running water. There was a glimpse of hope that the reception site was going to have a temporary system installed however to only find out that is wasn’t going to happen and we then had to make the call to move the wedding to Denver at 6:00pm on Wed, Sept 25th – 9 days before the wedding!!!
The Cloud 9 team sprang into action working day and night with two phones on each year calling every single venue in Denver and the Mountains. Only a couple of venues were open as many Estes Park relocation brides were rescheduling their weddings. Allison was able to secure the beautiful Holy Ghost Church for the ceremony. We were very excited when a venue that we love – Castle Cliff Estates in Sedalia, Colorado was available due to a cancellation. The venues couldn’t have been more perfect!
The difference? We were coming from a venue that was all inclusive meaning tables, chairs, power, bar, glassware and kitchen were all included. Because we utilized the back area of Castle Cliff Estates to accommodate the dinner and dancing, it was held in a tent. This meant that power, rentals, heat, lighting, etc. needed to be brought in.
Every guest was called and given information on all the new plans. All day-of paper items – menu, programs, welcome bag notes needed to be changed. Things were back on track until the day of the wedding. And then it snowed.
When I arrived at the reception site in the morning, so much snow had fallen and it was starting to warm up so the melting snow was creating mud puddles around the perimeter of the tent. I instantly grabbed a shovel and started shoveling snow from the tent. When walking into the tent, because of the cold the night prior and the heat in the morning, it was literally raining in the tent due to condensation. All our tables, décor and lighting was soaked (thankfully it dried out and worked).
Because of the snow and mud, huge mud pits were created in areas of the floor. Cortney from Cloud 9 does what she does best and was able to secure flooring from Home Depot last minute (all the rental companies were unavailable) and lay the flooring herself to make things perfect.
The ceremony was beautiful, the dinner fabulous, the reception rocked, the guests were amazing and Allison and Eric are married. We call this a Cloud 9 victory!
