1950s Mid Mod Wedding Shoot at Venue 221
Our 1950s Mid Mod wedding shoot at Venue 221 was such a blast! One of Denver’s newer event venues, Venue 221, is an artisan event center in Cherry Creek that showcases it’s original 1950’s architecture, clean finishes and fantastic lighting. We found our inspiration from an advertisement for commercial colors from 1956. We choose for bright, rich floral palette in pinks, fuchsia and oranges. To anchor these colors, we built a foundation on whites, ivories, mints and mixed metals to compliment the interior woods and decor of the venue.
Starting with the ceremony we wanted to design a backdrop of just lighting. Starburst patterns and silhouettes were huge in the 50’s and we wanted to create a multilevel repetitive pattern that gave off an ethereal light. The bride wore a gorgeous lace gown, lattice booties and a fab birdcage veil from The Little White Dress. The groom wore a dapper ivory coat with satin lapels from The Black Tux.
To further establish the vintage look, we incorporated gold pineapples (sign of hospitality and wildly popular in the 50’s), authentic starburst cordials, Bakelite cake plateaus and silver starburst china. We love a layered table look so we mixed up different patterns of china, metals, and topped it off with a fantastic menu by Sweet Zion Paperie.
Our vendor team was absolutely amazing in helping us realize this vision! We so appreciate your handwork and collaboration.
