2018 Wedding Color of the Year: Plum & Grey
Now that we have entered 2018, we have a new wedding color of the year! Color trends (amongst many other things) shift every year. Of course there is the new Pantone Color Of The Year, but there are also other colors making their way into the latest wedding color trends. Here is our favorite 2018 winter season color trend!
Plum & Grey
The 2018 Pantone Color of the Year is Ultra Violet. This color is very bold and beautiful. We love it when couples play with bold colors! But why not keep a color scheme in the purple family? We are loving a combination of plum and grey. Plum is a darker yet warmer color that will keep the winter vibes flowing throughout a wedding and matches perfectly with grey.
The Flowers
How do we incorporate these colors into a wedding? Let’s start with flowers. Floral arrangements can make a serious statement at a wedding considering they are often all over. Flowers are on tables for centerpieces, bouquets, and flower girls toss them down the aisle! We love a floral arrangement that really pops on camera too. Adding a purple floral palette is the perfect way to bring out the color trends this season. You can even add in ultra violet without it being too overwhelming!

Attire
As far as women’s attire, we love the idea of plum bridesmaid dresses! It’s a color that doesn’t wash out most skin tones and it really helps tie in the color theme. We love these plum dresses from Weddington Way. If you have bridesmaids of all shapes and sizes, consider keeping a consistent color and material and allow them to select their own style dress! This is just another way to stay on top of the latest trends.

And we can’t forget about the men! This is where the grey ties into the wedding. Lucky for the groom and groomsmen, we recommend The Black Tux for their large color selection of suits and tuxedos, with grey being one of them (in many shades)! To tie in that plum, add a pocket square or a tie!

Décor
There are many simple ways to tie your color palette choice into your décor. Aside from centerpieces, you can add the colors into your tablescape linens: grey tablecloths with plum napkins. Have your seating arrangement cards outlined in a plum and grey design. And, if your venue is capable, you may even be able to adjust the lighting to have purple hues. It’s the little details like these that tie everything together.
