9 Wedding Day Roles to Assign to Loved Ones
Food Runner
You can assign someone to order and pick up food the morning or afternoon of your wedding. With everyone getting ready in time for photos, food can easily be forgotten. You can choose to offer snacks for people to munch on or an actual meal. Don’t forget eating ware and drinks!
Readers
Assign these wedding day roles to people who love public speaking. Have them read a scripture, favorite quote, or a short story during your ceremony. Make sure they know when they’re standing up to read, where they are standing, and that they have a microphone so everyone can hear them and if you’re having a videographer, so they are able to record the reading.
DIY Assistance
You can grab a couple of hands for these wedding day roles. Are you needing help making your centerpieces? Is someone super handy and can make an arch? You’ll be surprised how many people are crafty and handy. You could have DIY items through the whole planing process and not need DIY project help on your actual wedding day. People can help you assemble welcome bags, favors, save the dates, and invitations.
Ushers/Greeters
It adds a nice touch if you have ushers greeting your guests as they arrive to the ceremony site. They can help people find their seats, they can answer the question if there are specific his and her family sides, and they pass out any ceremony items; programs, ceremony exit items, or tissues!
Transportation
If you know there are guests that will be late or just need a little reminder about when transportation is arriving and leaving, this would be a great wedding day role to delegate to. Transportation will need to leave on time to get everyone to the venue on time. Worst case scenario, if someone misses transportation, they will either take an Uber/Lyft or will drive themselves.
Flower People
Bring in your favorite guys, grandparents, and kids by having them be flower men, flower grandparents, or flower kids!
Brining Items
Sometimes venues won’t let you store your wedding items the night before which means someone will need to bring your wedding items to the venue. Assign this important as a wedding role to someone. They can either use their car or you can provide them a car with the items packed up inside.
Polaroid Photo Taker
Polaroid cameras are very popular. They’re interactive for the guests and they’re fun to look back on, but sometimes they can be missed. Have someone be in charge of taking guests’ photos throughout the night.
Officiate
Having someone that’s close to you and knows the two of you officiate your wedding is something so special and is one of the bigger wedding roles. You can either help them write the script, guide them, or have them write the script completely.
